Assessments
At Baltimore Pediatric Psychology, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults, addressing a wide range of psychological, educational, and social concerns. Our experienced team is here to guide you through the assessment process. These assessments come with detailed recommendations, helping individuals and their families navigate challenges in various aspects of life (i.e., in school, at home, at work, and in social relationships).
Psycho-educational Evaluation
Baltimore Pediatric Psychology offers comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations of children (ages 4+), adolescents, and adults. These evaluations assess psychological (i.e., anxiety, depression), educational, and social concerns. Frequent referral concerns include questions of ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Anxiety, Depression, Autism, behavioral concerns, giftedness, and twice-exceptionalism.
Assessments include detailed recommendations for you and your family. The goal of these assessments and diagnostic services is to provide individuals, families, and schools with a thorough understanding of each individual’s strengths and areas of growth and need. Our providers have experience conducting assessments with all ages (i.e., from young children through adulthood). Our providers will consult with schools, counselors and other relevant providers, with your consent. A written evaluation including all results and any pertinent diagnoses is reviewed once all testing is completed via a feedback session.
Cognitive Assessment for Private School Placement or Gifted & Talented Services
Our practice also provides testing as requested by private schools or for admissions into gifted and talented programs. These evaluations include a written report, including a description of scores that families may provide to their child’s school along with their applications. Feedback is provided to families to explain the information contained in the written report.
FAQs:
-
For young children, the initial intake appointment may be attended by parents only. For older children and adolescents, it is most helpful if they attend as well, but discuss with your provider ahead of time. Assessment appointments are typically scheduled for two days, with 3-4 hours of testing each day. The goal is to capture the most accurate representation of each individual’s abilities. If the client takes medication for ADHD already, please discuss with your provider ahead of time whether medication should be taken on the day of testing. Please bring snacks, drinks, and dress in comfortable clothing. No other materials are needed on the day of testing.
-
Baltimore Pediatric Psychology is an out-of-network practice, meaning we do not submit to insurance. Your provider will provide you with receipts including relevant information that may be submitted to your insurance company to request possible reimbursement.
It may be helpful to contact your insurance company ahead of time to determine whether you
have out-of-network benefits for assessments prior to scheduling.

For young children, the initial appointment may be attended by parents only, either virtually or in-person. For older children and adolescents, it is often helpful if they attend as well. You may discuss this with your provider prior to the first session. Please ensure all paperwork has been completed online prior to the initial appointment. The first session includes gathering information about your (or your child’s) history to gain a thorough understanding of your family and the factors that have brought you to this evaluation.

That's normal and okay! With young children, you may want to show pictures of your provider or the office (both shown on this website), before the first appointment. The goal of the evaluation is to best understand how your child's brain works, what areas are really easy or strong for them and what areas are more challenging. Their job is simply to try their best. Your provider will spend time getting to know your child before testing officially starts in order to ensure they are comfortable.
Good Faith Estimate
Under a new law, health care providers are required to give patients who don’t have insurance or are not using insurance for their care a “Good Faith Estimate” of the anticipated costs of care for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services provided by your provider.
This Good Faith Estimate shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care treatment. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. The Good Faith Estimate only includes costs associated with anticipated treatment items and services, and does not include ancillary services, late or no show fees, or costs incurred from other medical providers (e.g., outside labs, pharmacies).
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill by contacting Baltimore Pediatric Psychology. You can also initiate a dispute resolution process with the US Department of Health and Human Services. For questions or more information about the dispute process, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call CMS at 1-800-985-3059.
